The lofty hill station of Munnar is located in the Idukki district of Kerala. It is said to have risen from three mountain streams namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Eravikulam National Park
The Eravikulam National Park is one of the main attractions of Munnar. The National Park consists of a large variety of indigenous species like the Nilgiri Tahr, Sambar deer, jungle cats, golden jackals etc. The endangered mountain goat species, the Nilgiri Tahr is seen to have the highest population here. The famous Nilakurunji flowers, that spread a blue shade to the mountains are seen to bloom in this National Park once every twelve years. Travellers have been waiting expectantly for it to bloom and the time has finally arrived. The Neelakurunji flowers have started blooming in the valleys of Eravikulam National Park and it will last till the end of October.
